Difference between Expenses and Expenditure
Expenses and Expenditure are two different terms in accountancy. In general ,expenses are known as revenue expenditure and the expenditure are known as capital expenditure . Revenue expenditure are those expenditure whose benefit has been exhausted during a particular accounting period . on the other hand the capital expenditure are those expenditure whose benefit will be exhausted in more than one accounting period. Example -- Salary paid to X rupees 20000 in a particular accounting period is an expenses for the organisation because the organisation has utilised the employees service during a particular period and got the benefit by utilising his service in that accounting period. paying salary to employee is a revenue expenditure Example- Purchased a machinery rupees 200000 and the lifetime of the machinery is 10 year.in this particular situation the machinery is going to give benefit to the organisation for more than one accounting period that is 10 years.
